Bene, Vienna (AT)

At the end of 2010, the Austrian office furniture supplier Bene opened its new and spectacular showroom in Neutorgasse in Vienna's 1st District. In the entrance area, the visitor is greeted by a three-dimensional light cloud made of LED modules, which then continues into the stairwell. The installation supports the communicative character of the interior concept developed by the Viennese firm Solid Architecture by optically linking various levels and areas with one another. The cloud is made up of 76 individual Nimbus LED luminaires suspended at varying heights – a joint development by Solid Architecture, Sigrid Mayer (the architect responsible for showroom design at Bene) and the Nimbus design team.

Architect Christine Horner from Solid Architecture describes the successful light composition as "a practical light which, being dimmable, also works well for an "evening atmosphere". The luminaires and the light convey the atmosphere that we expected."
