Herrenhausen Gardens, Great Garden, Hanover (GER)

The Great Garden is the historical centrepiece of the Herrenhausen Gardens in Hanover and one of the most prestigious baroque gardens in Europe. Its lighting system was getting on in years when, in 2006, the Hanover lighting designers at lichtbreust started on the job of gradually refurbishing it. The idea was to retain the existing lighting concept as far as possible while improving the light guidance and glare suppression. "CEO Dirk Tiltmann described his planning assignment thus: "The lighting is intended to accentuate the beauty and uniqueness of the Great Garden while also pleasantly guiding visitors around the paths." One of the luminaires used was the Whisky Soda LED bollard luminaire developed by lichtbreust in collaboration with Nimbus. In Dirk Tiltmann's words: "A luminaire with a restrained formal idiom that quietly blends into the historical garden and whose benefits include perfect light guidance, optimum glare suppression and the latest, trendsetting light source technology."
