Salle Communale Lausanne (CH)

Finding modern, sustainable technology for a listed building from the 17th century – that was the greatest challenge in the redesign of the Lausanne city council chamber. Upgrading the lighting was a major aspect of this challenge: Nimbus LED technology satisfied the planners' wish for an economical, energy-efficient and sustainable solution. With their discreet elegance, the fine lines and surfaces of twelve Modul Q luminaires blend in with the historical wooden ceiling and provide the city's politicians with pleasant light during their sessions. The refurbishment also included renewal of the heating and ventilation facilities, where nothing had been changed for 30 years. A further key aspect was the use of local material such as solid oak floorboards produced using trees from Lausanne's urban forest.
