Nimbus Group's ecological orientation arouses political interest
Baden-Württemberg's minister for the Environment, Climate Protection and the Energy Sector, Franz Untersteller, paid a visit to the Nimbus Group, an enterprise in Feuerbach in Stuttgart that develops and produces energy-efficient LED luminaires as well as complete lighting solutions.
Untersteller was visibly impressed by the sustainable corporate philosophy, which the enterprise has consistently pursued since it was founded 20 years ago by the architect Dietrich F. Brennenstuhl. All of the company's activities, such as product development, design, manufacturing, sales and logistics, are concentrated at its location in Stuttgart. Over 90 % of its suppliers are within a radius of 200 km, thus ensuring short transport routes.
During his tour of the production, development and design departments, Untersteller gained interesting insights into the many and varied opportunities offered by LED technology. His visit was rounded off in the company's own showroom, where the impressive world of LED luminaires awaited the environment minister, condensed into one compact display. The Nimbus Group's sustainable philosophy runs like a common thread through all the company's activities. There is an ongoing program to convert the firm's delivery vehicles to zero-emission electric vehicles. Transports within the city and the surrounding area are completely emission-free. Nimbus themselves produce the electricity for the e-transporters with a photovoltaic system installed on the company building. The system is a prototype especially developed for the firm by Würth Solar. The Nimbus Group is a founding member of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB), one of the world's leading organizations in the field of sustainable building.
In a discussion with the CEO, Dietrich F. Brennenstuhl, Franz Untersteller discovered that Nimbus has a commitment to social projects going back many years and that the company supports children's, youth and education projects. That marked the conclusion of an informative visit for environment minister Untersteller to a future-oriented enterprise that no only advertises with sustainability but that lives its corporate philosophy and implements it in everything it does.
