PORSCHE SPORTS CUP: NIMBUS BECOMES EFFICIENCY‑PARTNER
Both brands share an enthusiasm for ecological technology. First leading car with plug-in hybrid technology.
Nimbus, the LED luminaire manufacturer, is the efficiency partner for the Porsche Sports Cup. The new partnership between the two Stuttgart high-end manufacturers started in the middle of May with the first of the racing series in the 2014 season at the Hockenheimring racing course. In future, the two companies intend to intensify their collaboration.
For the first race, Nimbus presented itself as the official efficiency partner of the Porsche Sports Cup 2014. The Stuttgart LED luminaire manufacturer designed the so-called leading car, which traditionally leads the field in the warm-up lap. Appropriately for a maker of electric cars and for the first time in Porsche’s history, this special vehicle – a Porsche Panamera S E-hybrid in the Green Swarm Design – completed its laps using electric power alone and also served as an eye-catcher for the rest of the race.
Dietrich F. Brennenstuhl, founder and managing director of the Nimbus Group, explained the symbolic content of this scene as follows: “In 2006, Nimbus became the first company in the industry to start making economical, energy-efficient LED luminaires. It is now the technology leader in this particular segment and this is why the leading car appeared in the striking Nimbus style.”
As the efficiency partner for the Porsche Sports Cup, Nimbus was also represented away from the actual track. In the hospitality area, Brennenstuhl welcomed the participants in a special Nimbus lounge. “Nimbus and Porsche are both brands that actively develop and promote new, ecologically viable technologies. This is how we fulfil our social responsibility.”, he said. “What we share is a strong commitment to design and an untiring enthusiasm for pioneering technology.”
A TOP-CLASS SPORTS EVENT FOR PORSCHE CUSTOMERS
The Porsche Sports Cup is a top-class, exclusive sports event and takes place six times a year on well-known racing tracks of the motor sports scene. In racing series where a licence is required and also in those where a licence is not needed, street-legal vehicles as well as Porsche cars modified for racing are able to take part in the races. Porsche drivers can compete with each other on the racing track in different ‘ambition’ and ‘performance’ classes. For fans, this unique series of races offers up-close motor sport in a friendly family atmosphere.
The LED pioneers headed by Brennenstuhl, the founder and manufacturer of the company, will also contribute to all the other races of the Porsche Sports Cup 2014 series and will expand their role as efficiency partner even further.
