Less is more. Much more. With their simple, reduced formal idiom, their high-quality surfaces and their lighting performance data, our Office Air LED workplace luminaires have been making an impressive impact since 2009. Virtually unchanged in its appearance, the lighting technology inside the Office Air LED 2.0 has been given a complete workover: new LED packages and optimised control electronics make it the best performing and most efficient LED workplace luminaire in its segment. The most significant detail of the workover is the two separated, capacitive and intuitively operated control units in the column of the luminaire. Thanks to pioneering dimming technology developed by Nimbus, the Office Air 2.0 boasts very gentle and 100 % flicker-free dimming.
The new model features a small but significant difference to its predecessor: the Office Air has gained five centimetres in height – perhaps not much, but this growth is critical is terms of adaptation to changing working environments, many of which feature height-adjustable desks.
The Office Air 2.0 features the extended PDLS function (presence detection and ambient light sensor): the ambient light sensor detects the changing level of ambient light and continually adjusts the luminaire to achieve a constant level of brightness. However, by simply dimming up and down on the luminaire, users can set the level of brightness that they perceive as pleasant whenever they like. The automatic brightness control remains active. The individually set level remains stored in the luminaire even after it has been switched off. Even when the presence detection system is deactivated, the luminaire switches itself to an automatic standby mode if no movement is detected over a period of 60 minutes.
Users can select the PDLS "fully automatic" function on the Office Air 2.0 – or they can adjust the luminaire to their own personal lighting requirements: the two separated, capacitive control units in the column of the luminaire can be operated intuitively. The indirect lighting as well as the presence and ambient light detection can be switched on or off at the press of a button.
The Office Air 2.0 Nimbus LED doesn't only cut a good figure as an individualist, but can also be upgraded to a team player: using the new Nimbus Wireless IQ technology based on the ZigBee standard, the Office Air can communicate with its neighbouring luminaires – and other luminaires in the system (so-called swarm intelligence). This creates an intelligent lighting network. Almost all Nimbus luminaires can be fitted with Wireless IQ and integrated into an intelligent lighting network. Both our Nimbus floor-standing and ceiling luminaires can be integrated into this swarm technology as a so-called mixed swarm - a real first.
The Office Air creates perfect conditions at the workplace. Slanting conical indentations in the diffuser surface direct the light to exactly where it is needed. With the exception of the middle row, all the conical indentations are also aligned outwardly so that the light is optimally directed over the entire working area. In combination with the high-performance and efficient Nimbus LED technology, this illuminates the working surface uniformly across its entire width – without glare. No other workplace luminaire combines top design quality and the latest LED technology better than the Office Air. The precise edges in combination with the reflecting chrome or the silk-matt gleam of anodised aluminium give the Office Air its timeless aesthetic and an incomparable exclusivity.
The architect Stefan Behnisch from Behnisch Architekten repeatedly gave us important tips in terms of design, functionality and lighting comfort during the initial development phase of the Office Air. Simple, reduced formal idiom, the use of ultra-modern LED technology and top-quality manufacturing are still the hallmarks of the Office Air family of luminaires.
