"light unleashed" at Light + Building 2016
Our definition of cableless light
Once again, Nimbus is playing a pioneering role by linking highly efficient LED technology with advanced batteries to initiate a development that enables us to use light sources in brand new ways. In future, luminaires will no longer be restricted by the dictates of the power cord supplying them with electricity from the mains: the future is cordless. If no mains cable is necessary, light becomes flexible; it accompanies users throughout their own four walls – and creates a brand new quality of living.
Mobile light also does away with the problem of wrongly positioned or non-existent ceiling or wall outlets. Dietrich F. Brennenstuhl describes the major benefits of his new “light unleashed” concept thus: “Our mobile luminaires enable high-quality lighting anywhere in the building without having to go to all the trouble of installing electrical fixtures.” The new generation of luminaires only has to top up its power two or three times a month at the docking station.
The Roxxane Leggera family
The handle shows what this luminaire is all about. The Roxxane Leggera wants to be moved around, wants to be there wherever light is needed. With its striking design and ergonomic positioning, its handle turns the Roxxane Leggera into a lightweight “luminaire to go”.
The Companion
Roxxane Leggera into a lightweight “luminaire to go”. Light as a feather, it can be effortlessly transported from one room to the next, from the play area to the terrace, to the sofa or to your favourite spot by the window. And as it works without a cable thanks to the integrated battery pack, you don‘t need to search for a socket or worry about a tangle of wires.
Simple Charging
After around 100 hours, the Roxxane Leggera needs a short stop for refuelling and has to be attached to its power cord. Thanks to the charging puck, this procedure almost takes care of itself with no need to bend down or search for a socket. The magnetic charging puck connects up with a discreet clack. Meanwhile, the equally discreet LED cascade indicates the charging status.
The first Member of a new era of light
Roxxane Fly is extremely versatile. Its compact size and low weight make it a master of manoeuvrability and your constant companion. Magnets built into the bottom of the luminaire even hold it upside-down or keep it in place on vertical metal surfaces. The non-slip, soft plastic coating on the bottom holds it in place on smooth and inclined surfaces. In addition to armrests, tables and parquet floors, its favourite places include not only the surfaces of USM furniture and console tables, but it also likes to hang around on steel supports or on its side between books on a shelf. The 3D head joint can be moved through 270 degrees in three planes, whereby it not only outdoes any owl but also provides bright light exactly where it is wanted.
The future of light unleashed
Totally independent! The Winglet marks the beginning of a completely new era in room lighting: its integrated rechargeable battery allows installation anywhere you wish – totally independent of the availability of electrical connection points. In future, non-existent or wrongly positioned cable outlets will be no problem at all. The Winglet is simply attached to the wall bracket with its invisible, built-in magnet. The diffuser is made of high-quality acrylic glass and emits light on both sides. This makes the Winglet ideal for atmospheric lighting in corridors, on staircases and in larger rooms.
Gravity - Weightless light object
We have already done away with the need for a power cord. But unfortunately, we are not yet in a position to overcome gravity, which is why Gravity is held in position by a gossamer-thin, almost invisible wire. The luminaire itself is also so ethereal that it is hardly present – but when switched on, Gravity proves itself to be a real lighting giant with its 500 lumens. Gravity is switched on and off and dimmed by means of touchless control via the integrated gesture sensor. The search for the right wall switch has been rendered unnecessary. If there is a row of adjacent luminaires, they communicate wirelessly with one another, are activated at the same time or dim to exactly the same level.
