Rim R in four new fantastic colours
As a substantive reinterpretation and consistent extension of the minimalistic Modul R series, the Nimbus Rim R series fascinates due to its formal reductionism and completely new design elements. With its design of the Rim R series, the ID AID design studio has succeeded in reinterpreting the iconic Nimbus LED module. As regards the selection of new colours, ID AID and Nimbus put their faith in high-quality exquisite surfaces and coating techniques. The wafer-thin anodized or chrome layers are extremely long-lasting and have a timeless look about them. And the matt gold, anodised version of the Rim R is a real eye-catcher in itself and not only as a jubilee luminaire to mark Nimbus’ 25 years of existence.
Design and functionality
The flat body of the light made of translucent acrylic glass – held by an almost invisible mounting – seems to hover in the circular element composed of high-quality aluminium. Three different diameters with different heights and six surface finishes – from high-gloss white paint to chrome-plating or anodised – allow a wide variety of possible uses.
Clear, analytical, puristic – RIM’s new range of colours also defines itself through its modern architectural practicality. The colours - brilliant white, frosted silver, anodised, brilliant polished chrome, matt titanium grey anodised, matt gold anodised and matt graphite black anodised - are confidently reserved and allow the design to come to the fore.
When it was launched, the Rim R received the “Interior Innovation Award” from the German Design Council.
Range of use
Thanks to its aesthetically reduced effect, the Rim blends harmoniously into any kind of architectural surroundings.
The Rim R is rotatable and tiltable and can be used as a ceiling or wall luminaire for spatial accentuation as well as in groups and larger ensembles, making it particularly suitable for the accentuated lighting or illumination of art or paintings.
