Optician Becker, Neuwied (GER)

Becker optician's in Neuwied was renovated using Nimbus luminaires throughout. This decision, taken by the lighting designers Scola Wohnkonzepte from Andernach, was in response to the client's wish to achieve a significant energy saving. "Using the Modul Q V6, which was new on the market at the time, we achieved an ideal result not only for the basic lighting but also for the flexible lighting for the shop window and the product presentations," explains Heike Reiff from Scola Wohnkonzepte. This recessed ceiling luminaire has two elements that can be tilted independently of one other and the narrowly focused light sources are available in three different beam angles. But it was not only the adjustability of the elements that made the Modul Q V6 a good choice: lighting in an optician's showroom needs to be glare-free and have a low reflection factor, and the Nimbus luminaires fulfil these demands. The luminaire is made of transparent, satin-frost acrylic glass and its aesthetic quality positively underlines the pure and clear line of the entire interior.

After just one year in service, it became apparent how much energy was actually saved thanks to the changeover to Nimbus LED technology: electricity consumption – and therefore also electricity costs – was cut by around 2/3.
