Bad Aibling Town Hall (GER)

More than 385 Nimbus ceiling luminaires light up the atrium, corridors, administrative offices, halls and other areas of the new town hall in Bad Aibling. The interiors are bright, white and awash with light to strike a contrast with the bright red on the exterior. Behnisch, the internationally renowned firm of Stuttgart architects, was responsible for the design and replaced the old building from the 70s with a modern, functional construction. Three prominent openings on different sides of the facade, the light-filled atrium and the meticulously planned lighting concept illustrate the decisive role played by light in the design: "The ultimate aim was to design a building people enjoy being in," explained Robert Hösle from Behnisch Architekten. "The idea was to design a building that was trendsetting in terms of its social and ecological sustainability. The Nimbus LED technology was a major component in realizing that concept." The discreet luminaires also convinced the architects with their aesthetic quality.
